Today's Attitude: [Freaking Ready to Leave Seattle]

The Laundered Thumb-Drive
Last Friday, I left to teach at ITT and could not find my precious 128_Meg Thumb-drive that I usage carry around in my pocket. As I soon realized, I had not backed up the information on the drive, so I did what I could, expecting to find it when I got home.
When I got home, I tore up the place... nothing. When I went back to work on Saturday, I tore up my desk at ITT... nothing. When I came home again, I tore through all of my hiding places, hoping I had accidentally used one... nothing. GTA and I cleaned the entire place... nothing. I was going to go down and sift through the dumpster -- I thought the cats had knocked it off into the trash inadvertantly... but GTA stopped me.
With my entire collection of lesson plans for 6 six of my classes were on that disk with no back-up, I was without a clearcut path, other than re-typing the whole thing... anger followed denial, then depression.
I HAD checked my pants pocket, but not too well (as I was remembering later)... but I had washed ALL of my clothes over the weekend. So, comes Wednesday night and I was pondering all of the places I could have left it -- was it in the trash somewhere, had one of these d@mn workers who have been pounding on the walls for 3 months come though and grabbed it, what?! But the one thing that stuck in my mind was that I had not checked the pants thoroughly.
With that in mind, I went to the closet where they were hanging and thrust my hand as deep as I could into the side pocket -- and twisted up inside the pocket inside was my FREAKING THUMB-DRIVE. YES!, I had washed it, dried it and then plugged it in!
Indeed! It had survived! My Freaking Thumb-drive survived a wash and dry cycle. Truly amazing!!! A standard floppy would have never made it.
