Today's Attitude: [Exasperated]

Einstein's 'Miracle Year' Centennial Begins

All I can say is,, "Please make it stop!!!!' I've already heard of the discovery channel, History Channel, Nova, et al preparing tributes to the man who "revolutionized science and the way we think in the 20th century."

A few comments I feel like belching up here:
1. I do appreciate what the man did for scifi writers, in general. The interest in science and science fiction that resulted from his odd theories. He contributed to physics by not fighting the fall of belief in the "AEthereal Fluid" was a great thing.

2. He's just a freakin guy that had the next better theory than "Static AEther", and that's all. He declared the Ether defunct but then re-established a modified version of it (aka, his "Fabric of Space-time"). He tried like heck to see ways of theoretically violating things people took for granted with the old theories -- that's what drives every crackpot.

3. His math is impeccable. Everything is self-consistent. The lying lawyer in court can do that,,, it proves intelligence, but not genious or morality.

4. He destroyed the essence of Physics.
Physics is the study of how things work. Most of Einstein's work has never been observed working. Everything has been indirect consistencies. I have learned many valuable lessons in life - consistency is not truth (again, imagine the "lying lawyer"). As a result, he widened the schism in Physics between "experimental" and "Theoretical" physicists - neither trust each other, now. Einstein was not a good philosopher, so he was not able to "feel" out whether his theory was actually true to a deeper common sense or not. He just followed all paths tho their results and then told people about his screwy answers, and that they MUST be true with his assumptions -- AH YES,, the assumptions. Einstein's hairbrained assumption that the universe psychotically forces every frame of reference to see light moving at the same speed is (I am not kidding here) what he used to derive all of Special Relativity (time dilation, contractions, frequency differentials). Self-consistent, yes... true,, no,, like the lying lawyer telling the perfect elusive story.

5. Idiots who don't understand Einstein see him as an endorsement for Post-modernism. They think that Relativity means Relativism... completely ridiculous!

Anyway, expect to see plenty of specials celebrating his 1905 paper in which he outlined much of the initial ideas of Special Relativity and his 'Miracle Year' where he took every elses theories about E&M and space and tweaked them to plug into his new reality HUB.

That's my angry two cents about this coming year. :)
